Representative of an Overseas Business

This Representative of an Overseas Business is no longer open to new entrants. The Global Business Mobility scheme has replaced it with the UK Expansion Worker route, which enables foreign companies to send a representative to the UK to establish and run a branch or a completely owned subsidiary of their business.

After living under this category for five years, holders of the Sole Representative visa are still eligible to apply for an extension of stay or an indefinite leave of absence.

When the time comes for you to apply for an extension of your leave, you must provide proof of the following:

  • The foreign company has opened a branch or a wholly-owned subsidiary in the United Kingdom;
  • The UK firm is engaged in trade, and it shares the parent company’s characteristics.
  • The primary operations of the parent firm are located outside of the UK, and it is still operating there;
  • The representative must work for the foreign parent firm rather than the UK company;
  • The representative’s remuneration is set out in the employment contract and conforms with all applicable UK laws regarding minimum wage, sick pay, holiday entitlement, and other matters

If you wish to make an application under this route, please contact us via phone/email/online form or chat with us to discuss your case.
