Skilled Worker Visa

Those who wish to work in the UK for an employer based in the UK can apply for a skilled worker UK visa. Sponsorship is necessary for this kind of visa, and the employer holding a sponsorship licence can act as the Sponsor.

In order to be eligible for the UK skilled worker visa, the general requirements are :

• Have an offer of employment from a UK-based company with a sponsor licence
• The position must be listed as an eligible occupation (you may want to verify the minimum salary requirement for the position as well as the applicable SOC code on the list of eligible occupations).
• Depending on the nature of the work, your experience level, and whether the position is on the shortage occupation list, the pay must exceed a certain threshold
• Your employer must provide you with a “certificate of sponsorship” that includes details about your proposed role and salary
• Meet English language requirements by holding a B1 English language certificate in all 4 components
• Must meet the maintenance requirements by holding £1270.00 in a bank account for at least 28 days before the date of the application
• Some applicants may need to have a criminal records certificate if their job requires it

The duration of the visa you are granted depends on the length of your certificate of sponsorship. You are able to bring your dependents with you such as your spouse and children under this category.

You would need to complete 5 years in this category to be eligible for indefinite leave to remain.
